It is with great love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Marakovitz, who left us peacefully on September 27, 2025, at the age of 77 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born on February 2, 1948 in Garfield New Jersey, John lived a life filled with warmth, devotion, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that made each day special.
A caring brother, father, and grandfather and friend to so many. He is survived by his loving sister Carol Famularo and brother-in-law Frank Famularo; his devoted daughters Danielle Marakovitz and Chantle Leemann; and his son-in-law Michael Leemann. John was a proud and adoring grandfather to John, Chloe, Alayna, Riley, and Kaydence, all of whom brought endless joy and light to his life.
John worked for many years as a security guard, where his dedication and quiet strength were admired by all who knew him. Outside of work, he found peace in gardening, the art of nurturing life and beauty with his hands. He also had a lifelong passion for fishing, enjoying the serenity of the water and the company of family and friends.
A dedicated father, John always made sure to spend quality time with his daughters. Some of their most cherished memories were made together at local parks, enjoying meals at the Hot Grill, and sharing laughs and popcorn at the movies. No matter how busy life became, John always made time for his daughters — they were truly the center of his world.
Above all, John’s greatest pride and purpose were his daughters and grandchildren. His love for them knew no bounds, and he cherished every moment spent with his family.
John will be remembered for his kindness, his humor, and his unwavering love for those closest to him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. No services will take place, as John requested, but we do appreciate your love and support during this difficult time.
“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.
