John Daniskas Obituary

John Louis Daniskas was born on August 12th, 1943 in Newark, NJ to Jennie and Louis Daniskas. He grew up in Irvington, NJ, and moved to Edison, NJ in 1965. He passed away on January 6th, 2021. John enjoyed running a family store in Plainfield NJ for over 25 years, trips to the racetrack, and supporting the J. P Stevens bands. John’s family remembers him for his amazing humor. He always put a smile on everyone’s face whether it was a joke, prank, or a simple facial expression. Anyone who knew John knew that his lighthearted humor was a large part of his personality.

John is survived by his wife of 56 years Andrea Daniskas. They met each other when they were just 18 years old at Essex College of Business. After a whirlwind romance, they married in 1965. A short year later, they had their first son and a second son soon to follow. Their lives were dedicated to their two sons and supporting them in all their endeavors. John and Andrea played a large role in their son’s musical involvements and were active in their high school activities. As their sons began to have their own families, their focus shifted to their beloved grandchildren. John and Andrea spent as much time as they could with their grandchildren, whether it was a family dinner or watching a sports game.

John is also survived by his son Scott and his wife Laurie. Scott recalls his fond memories of going to the horse racing track at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford with his father. Scott has two children, Miranda and Matthew. John cherished the Friday nights where he would watch his granddaughter in the drum corp and his grandson on the football field.

John’s son Barry and his wife Krista have three children, Tyler, Libby, and Graeme. Barry and John shared the same affinity for collecting comic books and baseball cards together. Their collection is quite extensive. John watched his one grandson in swimming competitions and listened to his other grandson singing in school concerts. John’s granddaughter recalls time spent exercising and taking him to Rock Steady Boxing.

John was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2008. His family would like to bring awareness to the debilitating disease. To combat the mental and physical impact, he went through years of physical therapy, even through the pandemic. In honor of his memory, all donations can be made to The Parkinson’s foundation.
