Joan Leva, a trailblazer, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed
away peacefully at the age of 91. Joan was predeceased by her loving husband Louis
Leva and parents Joseph and Virginia Romano. After an upbringing in Brooklyn NY, she
moved with her family to Iselin NJ, where she helped plant the roots of her legacy. Born
into a time of great change, Joan’s life was a testament to her resilience, intelligence,
and unwavering dedication to those she held dear.
Joan’s journey was marked by her pioneering spirit, especially in her professional life. In
an era when women were often overlooked in the corporate world, she carved out a
remarkable career for herself at Price Waterhouse in New York City. Joan’s tenure at
this prestigious firm was not just a job but a statement of her belief in the power of hard
work, integrity, and the right of women to stand shoulder to shoulder with their male
counterparts. Her success laid a foundation of inspiration for countless women who
would follow in her footsteps, proving that barriers could be broken, and ceilings
shattered.
Beyond her professional achievements, Joan’s heart belonged to her family. She was a
cherished mother to Ernest Leva M.D. and his wife Michelle Leva RN along with her
loving daughter Geralyn Zannetti and husband Gene Zannetti, teaching them the values
of hard work, resilience, and the importance of family bonds. Joan’s legacy of love is
vividly alive in her children, through whom her teachings and memories continue to
thrive.
As a grandmother to six grandchildren, Louis Leva DDS and his wife Kimberly Leva,
Joseph Leva, Christopher Leva and his wife Emeline Leva, Gene Zannetti and his wife
Gina Zannetti, Jeffery Zannetti and his wife Lisa Zannetti and Father Gregory Zannetti,
and a great-grandmother to eleven great-grandchildren, Joan was a figure of immense
love and joy. She reveled in the achievements and happiness of each one, offering
stories, and laughter in abundance. Joan’s presence was a gift that enriched the lives of
her family members, creating cherished memories that will last for generations.
Joan’s life was a rich tapestry of love, dedication, and pioneering spirit. Her role as a
trailblazer at Price Waterhouse, coupled with her devotion to her family, made her a
remarkable woman whose legacy will continue to inspire. Her guidance and love have
left an indelible mark on her family, teaching them the value of hard work, the
importance of family, and the enduring power of love.
