Joan Kukura of Edison NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday September 27th at Care 1 Highlands. Born on March 29th 1934 to Beatrice and Frank DeStephan in Elizabeth NJ Joan began her life journey.
She started her family and moved to Fords in 1965. Joan was a waitress at Sherban’s Diner in South Plainfield for 30 years. She also worked at Holiday Inn Carteret, Costco Edison, and James Madison School Edison as a lunch aide.
Joan enjoyed drawing, painting, bowling, and softball. She was an exceptional cook who enjoyed sharing recipe's with her children. Most of all she enjoyed the company of her grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her brother Ken DeStephan & wife Ethel, Her children JoAnn Forte, Francis Berndt & wife Lynn, Joseph Berndt & wife Stephanie, Linda Scoda, and Mary Ellen Hobler & husband Frank. She is survived by her grandchildren Nicole Forte,Cody Forte, Danielle Latkovitch, Kelly Duff, Brian Scoda, Michelle Scoda, Sarah Hobler, and Megan Hobler, great grand children Joey Latkovitch, and Keno Berndt She is also survived by her sister in law and best friend Joan DeStephan.
Joan is preceded by her husband Joseph Kukura, brother Joseph DeStephan, sister Rosalie DeStephan, son in laws Brian Scoda, and Mike Forte, and grandson Frankie Berndt.
