Joan passed away at JFK Hospital with her family by her side. It was there that she was a Patient Care technician for 30 years before retiring in 2010. She enjoyed taking care of people and had a lot of great times with her coworkers. Many who she became very dear friends with and stayed in touch with through the years.
Family was everything to Joan. She was most proud of the accomplishments of her granddaughter and would welcome any and all opportunities to talk about them. Not only was Joan there for her family, she was there for her friends and even strangers if someone needed help. She touched the lives of many and will be missed by those who knew her.
Joan loved doing ceramics and one of her favorite pieces were her Seven Dwarfs. Cooking was something she enjoyed greatly and she was known for her amazing gravy and homemade meatballs. Stealing meatballs from the gravy pot was a must and you never knew how many were going to make it to the dinner table. This was Sunday dinner known by many! Joan enjoyed watching Westerns, Game Shows and especially the FoodNetwork. She was always sneaking “extra” ingredients on the family’s grocery list so she and her granddaughter can make them. Especially the desert ones!
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Josephine Sidoti, sister Lucia Anderson, sister Susanne Dicembrino and brother Vincent Sidoti. She was a loving mother and is survived by daughter’s Joan Marie Lottmann (Philip) and Carmen Ann D’Alessandro (Barbara). Devoted grandma to Sophia, which is known by all, her pride and joy. She also leaves behind a brother Santo Sidoti (Debbie), former husband Carmen D’Alessandro and many more family members and friends who she loved dearly.
