In Loving Memory of Jashvantsingh D. Garasia
March 12, 1938 – January 1, 2025
Jashvantsingh D. Garasia, a man of boundless love for and selfless dedication to his family, peacefully went to be with The Lord on January 1, 2025.
Early Life
“J.D” was born on March 12, 1938, in a small town called Sisva, located in Gujarat, India. From a young age, he learned about hard work, responsibility, and resilience—values that he not only embraced out of necessity as a child but came to exemplify as an adult. He had two beloved siblings: Amarsingh (his brother) and Andarba (his sister) who both passed away in India.
Family Life
On July 3, 1966, Jashvantsingh married the love of his life, Shakuntala Garasia. Together, they raised three devoted children: Shaila, Naresh, and Anjana. His deep commitment to his family was the cornerstone of his life. Jashvantsingh cherished his wife’s deeply rooted faith and her extraordinary cooking.
As a father, Jashvantsingh made countless sacrifices to ensure his children had every opportunity possible. He worked tirelessly, often holding three jobs at a time, sacrificing weekends, nights, and even vacations to afford for his children’s education and ensure they did not grow up disadvantaged.
Career and Immigration Journey
In India, Jashvantsingh served as a Health Sanitation Inspector at Awaha Dang, a role he carried out with diligence and pride. On May 20th, 1978 he immigrated to the United States with his family, embracing the challenges of a new country with courage and determination. With an industrious work ethic, he overcame many difficulties and hardships, always inspiring those around him (especially his children) to push their limits.
Passions and Interests
Jashvantsingh’s life was filled with a love for Indian cinema, music, and food. He delighted in watching Hindi movies and cherished his collection of cassette tapes. His simple love for Indian food, masala tea with chapatti made him a content man.
He was also known for his impeccable sense of style and always the snappiest dressed man in the room. He took pride in his carefully curated wardrobe, complete with matching shirts, shoes, and accessories like his watch, gold rings, and iconic Ray-Ban sunglasses.
Legacy
Jashvantsingh is survived by his beloved wife, Shakuntala Garasia, and his children:
Daughter: Shaila (husband Neil) and granddaughter Sybil
Son: Naresh (wife Prachi) and granddaughters Sarah and Natalie
Daughter: Anjana (husband Paris) and grandson Michael
He adored his grandchildren and took immense pride in their accomplishments, often describing them as “excellent.” His encouragement and unwavering belief in their potential will forever remain an inspiration.
A Grateful Heart
Jashvantsingh’s life was enriched by his extended family, including his beloved nephews and nieces as well as friendships and connections he made along his journey. His family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to everyone who shared their love and kindness with him. Your emotional support is a source of comfort and strength.
While we miss him, we do not mourn him. We know that he is with Jesus, and that we will see him again. Today, we celebrate and remember the man that he was and give tribute to a life well lived. It is often said that a good life is not measured by the length of one’s years but rather by the quality of those years: what did you do with them and whose other lives did you impact. By that standard, Jashvantsingh did not just live a “good” life. He lived a great one, and he is enjoying Eternal Life now.
