Janice Remite Obituary

On Saturday, March 9th, 2024, Janice Marie Remite, loving mother of two and devoted grandmother of five (not including her two grandpups), passed away at the age of seventy-nine after her three-year battle with cancer. She was born on October 19, 1944, in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Janice spent the entirety of her career in the banking industry, where she performed secretarial duties supporting the leadership team of the Valley National Bank of Greenbrook. She was recognized by the leaders many times for her outstanding work and was loved by all her colleagues until the day she retired.

While Janice valued her work, she valued family far more than anything else. She married the love of her life, Salvatore, at the young age of 19 years old. By the time she was 24 years old, her family was already assembled with her son, Joseph, and daughter, Donna. As time passed, her family grew even bigger, with the addition of her four granddaughters, one grandson, and two grandpups. Janice enjoyed spending time with her family, whether it be crab-eating parties, shopping at Hobby Lobby or Marshalls, and grabbing lunch at her favorite spots.

Besides her utmost devotion to her family, Janice was known for her sass, her quick-witted humor, and her sweetness with anyone she encountered. While grocery shopping, she often thought it was odd that fellow shoppers would strike personal conversations with her, but if you knew her personally, you would know why it would be so easy for anyone to converse with her. Even in the middle of her fight with cancer, the hospital and rehab staff fell in love with her, and she always made them smile and laugh.

Janice is survived by her loving children, Joseph Remite, married to Claudia Remite, and Donna Handel, married to Ed Handel, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Gabriela Remite-Berthet, Elena Remite-Berthet, Michelle Remite-Berthet, Isabella Remite-Berthet, and Ryan Handel. She was also adored by her grandpups, Willy Remite and Benji Handel.

Janice was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore Remite, her mother, Jean Potts, and her father, Joseph Potts.

She will be forever missed by her family and friends, but we find peace and joy knowing that we will one day see her again.
