Janet Sobocienski, 91, of Colonia, New Jersey passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Saturday, November 1.
Born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Janet was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (née Miskines) Rees. She married the love of her life, Donald, in November 1952. Together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and devotion to family. After her many years as a dedicated homemaker, Janet later worked for American Greetings where she made many long time friends.
She loved family gatherings and playing late night video games with her grandchildren. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and committed a portion of each day checking Facebook and playing online games.
Janet will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her warm smile, and her unwavering love for those she held dear. She loved spending time with her Predmore Avenue friends, which included mahjong night, the bowling league and the rosary group. She also looked forward to her lunches with the American Greetings “girls” and her occasional trips to the casinos.
Janet was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband, Don, and her sister, Jean Duda of Colonia. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Florence Pawloski, her son Don and his wife Anne, and her daughter Karen Brady and her husband John. Janet was the proud grandmother of Laura Chapman (Deriek), Katie Gschwend (Alex), Michael Sobocienski (Jenna),Kyle Brady (Samantha), and Jennifer Brady and the cherished great-grandmother of eight, with one more great-grandchild on the way.
