Jake Causing Santos, Esq., age 50, of Edison NJ, was born 6/19/1973 in Jersey City, NJ and lived a life dedicated to the happiness and well-being of others. Raised in Edison, NJ, he attended Martin Luther King Jr Elementary School before moving to the Philippines. While in the Philippines, he attended Canossa College in San Pablo City, his father’s home town, for sixth grade. He completed high school at the University of the Philippines in the Visayas, his mother’s alma mater. He attended his first year of college at UPV before returning to the US to complete an Associate’s Degree in Mathematics at Middlesex County College. He transferred to Rutgers University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Statistics and Mathematics. He continued on to earn Master’s degrees in Human Resource Management, Labor and Industrial Relations and Communications and Information Studies. He was a member of Mensa International. He then attended Rutgers Law School where he earned his Juris Doctor of Law.
Jake worked throughout college and law school for various companies within HR departments as a Compensation Analyst before embarking on his law career. For 16 years, Jake was counsel to the firm Norrie & Associates. In 2014, he began a private practice, focusing on personal and commercial financial management and analysis, tax preparation, estate and trust administration, and commercial and residential real estate. Jake was very proud of his academic and career accomplishments and shared his expertise with his family and friends.
He was an avid comic book fan and looked forward to attending the NYC Comic Convention each year. He could often be found at home with episodes of Star Trek, Phineas and Ferb, Marvel Movies, or Star Wars movies/shows playing in the background.
Jake loved his family and friends dearly. A surrogate parent to his cousins, he always made sure to be “their first call.” He doted on his nieces, nephews and godchildren and was known as Tito/Uncle Jake and beloved by many. His loss will be felt for a long time within his circles.
Jake is survived by his parents, Cresencio and Psyche Causing Santos, beloved sister and brother-in-law, Pauline Joy and Jeffrey Sherry, nieces, Allison and Rebecca. He leaves behind a large family of first cousins, aunts and uncles as well as friends that are family.
A memorial service will be held on November 8, 2023 at Gosselin Funeral Home from 5-9pm. His inurnment will take place as a private invite-only event.
