In Hwan Yang, 82, passed away peacefully at home the evening of October 19, 2024.

He was born on January 29, 1942 in Kimpo, South Korea, the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Ju Hyun Yang. With his wife, Chong Hwa Lee, and two little children, the young family immigrated to the United States in March of 1974 for the pursuit of the American Dream

The family first settled in Central Jersey, where he worked in the factory of Westinghouse. Leading the way, he helped his brothers and their families in the 1980s and 1990s to also immigrate to the United States. He was an entrepreneur, owning his own bike shop in Kenilworth in the early 1980s, followed by dry cleaning businesses in Monmouth County, and later in life ventured into real estate.

Settled in Wayside, he was a Deacon of Hope Presbyterian Church in Tinton Falls and an active member of the local Korean American community. He loved to sing and karaoke. A lifelong and avid golfer, his retirement years were spent golfing and socializing with friends between New Jersey and Greensboro, North Carolina. At the time of his passing, he was living with his daughter and son in law in Ringoes, NJ.

Committed to living a life with unwavering faith, he is known to all for his kindness and dedication to the church, his family and friends. He was a proud father and doting grandfather and uncle.

Predeceased in death by his wife, Chong Hwa Lee and brothers, Bong Hwan Yang and Kyong Hwan Yang, he is survived by daughter, Cheryl (Gerard) Sullivan of Ringoes, son, Jae (Sophie) of Morganville and grandchildren Eric and Emma, brother Bu Hwan Yang (Soo Jung), sister in law, Mee Kyong Yang, nieces & nephews, Naki (Myung) Chun, Yuki (Michael) McGurk, Jae Dong (Ji Hyun), Jay Yeol (Sung Kyung) and great nephews and nieces, Jacob, Madelyn, Aiden and Max. He is also survived by his sisters in law, brother in law, nieces, nephews and family members of his late wife.

Family and friends are invited for visitation on Thursday, October 24th from 4pm-7pm, Memorial Service from 7pm-8pm at Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road, Edison, NJ. Funeral services will start at 11am on Friday, October 25th with Interment to follow at Hazel Wood Cemetery in Colonia, NJ.
