The Lord graced our world with the life of Gordon Inverno, Jr. on July 5, 1947, and the Lord called him home the same day 73 years later.
Gordon was an amazing educator that devoted his time to English literature, and a well-loved director of Theater Arts. He left an indelible mark on countless young lives throughout his career. Although his work as a teacher defined him to many, his true love was his family. He lived for them, and instilled life lessons that will be carried on in their hearts and actions forever.
He was an avid collector and had a passion for sharing the history behind all of his treasures with friends, family, and acquaintances alike.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Martiza Santiago; two daughters, Ivette Dempsey and Jessica Sosa, his son-in-law Scott Dempsey; and the two lights of his life, granddaughters Francesca and Alexandra.
Also surviving are his sisters Debra, Rose, and brother Anthony, along with many nieces and nephews.
As both a director and teacher, Gordon loved the play “Our Town,” because its message was universal. His favorite quote was, “Do any human beings ever realize life while they live it — every, every minute?”
Dad, I don’t know if humans do, but know that we loved and appreciated every minute with you. When we look up to the sky, you will be the brightest star. Though the theater is dark, your light will shine through us forever.
