Glenn Mackenzie Obituary

Glenn Mackenzie, 78, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, family, friendship, and cherished memories.
Born in Yonkers, New York, Glenn spent his childhood in Cranford, New Jersey, before making South Plainfield his home in 1971. He was predeceased by his parents, Malcolm Mackenzie (1962) and Agnes Mackenzie (2004), and is survived by his beloved sister, Laurie (OC) Hope.
On September 12, 1970, Glenn married the love of his life, Linda (Van Jaeckel) Mackenzie. Together they built a beautiful life centered around their family, sharing nearly 56 years of marriage.
Glenn attended SUNY Morrisville, where he studied Automotive Technology, beginning a lifelong passion for all things automotive. He worked exclusively for Ford dealerships from graduation until he retired. A devoted classic car enthusiast, he could often be found at car shows, swap meets, or enjoying the excitement of auto racing. Whether talking about engines, admiring his beautiful classic cars, or sharing stories with fellow enthusiasts, Glenn found joy in the automotive community.
Beyond his love of cars, Glenn treasured time spent camping with his family and his lifelong friends, aka the "Bus Boys." Those weekends around the campfire, filled with laughter, stories, and friendship, became some of his most treasured memories.
More than anything, Glenn was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He took immense pride in his children: Joseph (Dawn) Mackenzie, Kathleen (Chris) Shellhamer, Michael (Meghan) Mackenzie, and Jonathan (Marlaina) Mackenzie. Nothing brought him greater happiness than watching his family grow and celebrating their accomplishments.
His greatest joy was spending time with his beloved grandchildren, Michael, Lauren, Jack, Sean, Julia, Kirsten, Malcolm, and Rebeka. He adored each of them deeply and cherished every opportunity to create memories together.
Glenn will be remembered for his witty sense of humor, kind heart, and devotion to his family, and friends. His legacy lives on in the countless lives (and cars)he touched and in the family he loved so much.
A celebration of Glenn's life will be held at a later date.
