Gina Toscano

Gina Toscano of Edson NJ passed away on January 6th, 2021. Gina was born on September 26th, 1929 in NYC to Carmen and Celia Diorio. She grew up in NYC and when married moved to Brooklyn then Staten Island landing in NJ in 1978.

Gina is survived by her 2 daughters Jean Byrnes and Carrie Gennuso (husband Robert). She had 6 grandchildren Richie (Chris), John (Vanessa), Gabrielle, Samantha, Cara (Anthony), and Nicholas...and 3 great grandchildren Isabelle, Christopher and Jaden.

Gina was known as a jeopardy whiz and could complete the NYTimes crossword puzzle in an hour…in ink!! Her grandchildren remember her most for her great cooking and sleepovers with the whole gang and all the sweets they could eat. She was a pro-hockey superfan in her younger years (NY Rangers of the later 40’s early 50’s) and loved cheering at her youngest grandson Nick's ice hockey games at the Woodbridge ice rink. Her grandkids were her joy!

She was predeceased by her sister Florence Manning and her husband Vito aka Boopa. We’re sure she’s already up there cooking up a storm for him and telling everyone to get out of her ’new’ kitchen. Our ‘Nanny' will be missed!

Funeral Mass Monday 10:45am on January 11, 2021 at St John Vianney RC Church, Colonia. All to meet at church.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations made to the Alzheimer's Association in Gina's name.
