Gary J. Koellhoffer, 72, recently of Edison, New Jersey, died Tuesday, January 9, 2024
after battling cancer for the past few years.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Gary spent much of his career traveling around the
country for various Sales positions. After a well-earned retirement, Gary moved to South
Carolina to enjoy year-round golfing and fishing. Recently, Gary moved back up to New
Jersey so he could be surrounded by loved ones during his cancer treatment.
Gary did not do things in half measures – he had the ability to turn every hobby into a
passion. Whether it was hand-building new sets of golf clubs, deepwater fishing off the
shores of South Carolina, or grilling the perfect steak, Gary dedicated himself to each
task until he mastered it. He also loved to entertain as nothing put a smile on his face
like a backyard full of his friends – “Bubba Bashes” created a lot of laughs and
memories.
One of his favorite family traditions was to take his sons out to a movie every Christmas
Eve so that presents could be wrapped and the house prepared while they were out.
Gary kept the tradition going until he could no longer attend, and now the tradition
continues with his sons guiding the way for their children.
Gary is survived by his sons Gary Jr. and Paul, his daughters-in-law Samantha and
Caraline, and his grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Madelyn, and Miranda.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the Visitation scheduled for
Tuesday, January 16, 5:00 – 8:00pm at Gosselin Funeral Home in Edison, New Jersey.
The family will be holding a private burial at a later date.
