Garth, “Skip” Snyder of Edison, passed away peacefully at home, surround by his loving children, on February 10, 2021.
He was born in East Orange, NJ to the late Blandford and Ruth Snyder, and was raised in Newark, NJ.
Skip proudly served his country, as a Private, in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1955 to 1963. In 1959 he married the love of his life, Hazel. They settled in Colonia, NJ where they raised their two children and finally settled in Edison, NJ.
They spent their winters in Cozumel Mexico enjoying the warm weather, and their summers fishing off the NJ shore. Skip enjoyed making fishing lures for their trips on the boat and what started as a weekend hobby quickly turned into a profitable business and even today, Skip’s “Custom Lures” proudly hang in tackle shops up and down the Jersey Shore. Skip was an avid fisherman and a longtime friend of Bill W. He was a member of Teamster’s Local Union 153 and retired from Anheuser Busch, as a driver, in 1992 to enjoy time with his grandchildren.
Skip was predeceased by his beautiful wife of 61 years Hazel and leaves behind his loving children, Donna and her husband Mickey Phillips, Charles and his wife Connie Snyder, his cherished grandchildren Jaclyn and her husband Mike Healey, Heather Phillips, Rebecca and Sarah Snyder and his great-grandson, Andrew Healey.
Visitation will be Monday, February 15, 2021 from 4pm to 7pm at Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Rd, Edison followed by a private cremation. The family thanks you for all the love and support.
