Francis "Frank" Garon Obituary

Francis (Frank) J Garon, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle passed away peacefully at home on July 3, 2020.

Born in Hillside New Jersey on December 2, 1939, Frank lived in Hillside, Newark, and Irvington before moving to Iselin in 1971. After proudly serving in the Air Force, Frank worked for New Jersey Bell as a lineman, General Electric as an appliance repair technician, and then went on to successfully own his own (A&F Appliance) appliance repair business before retiring several years ago.

Happily married to the love of his life Anita (McDonnell) for 57 years, Frank will be remembered for his loyalty to friends and family alike; his intelligence and his inquisitive mind; his courage; his ability to make friends with literally every person he met; and his awesome sense of humor.

And what a sense of humor it was. His family can regale you with his constant telling and retelling of his life stories; so much so that each of us can repeat them verbatim and we have assigned numbers to each of them. He was quick on his feet, able to find the humor in just about everything, and had a laugh that all of us will remember forever and always.

Frank was absolutely devoted to his friends and family and that devotion worked both ways. Each person that was close to him has at least a few stories about how much he meant to them and how special he made them feel. He had a way of making you feel important, safe, and like you were the only person in the room.

He will be forever remembered as an awesome grandfather and he took great joy in each one of his grandchildren. A lifelong lover of animals, Frank was a dog man that grew to love cats equally so. If pets can mourn a loss there are several cats who are desperately missing his lap right now.

Frank is survived by his wife Anita, son Frank and daughter-in-law Catherine, daughter Donna, grandchildren Sarah (and husband Dan), Frankie, Kaleigh, Nora, Michelle, Asher, Macklin and Delia, brother Michael and sister-in-law Pat, brother Don and sister-in-law Barbara and a whole bunch of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. All of us are the better for having known him and his memory will live on in our hearts and in our own retelling of his corny jokes.

Interment will be at Brig. Gen. William C Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown New Jersey, on Monday, July 13, 2020. Limit of 25 attendees. Due to circumstances surrounding the pandemic, a memorial service will be celebrated at a later date. At that time we will gather his friends and family to celebrate his life. It is bound to be a memorial filled with one quarter teardrops and three quarters laughter.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to either St. Jude's or a No Kill Animal Shelter of your choice in Frank's memory.
