Francesco Pugliese Obituary

Francesco Pugliese, affectionately known as "Ciccio", "Frank", and "Ciccio u Ciripinno", by those closest to him, peacefully departed this life on January 27, 2024, surrounded by the warmth of those he loved most. He was a beloved husband, father, Nonno, uncle, great uncle, and friend to many.

Born on August 6, 1941, in the small village of Spilinga, VV, Italy to Giuseppe Pugliese and Michelina Fiamingo, he was the penultimate of 11 children. From the moment he entered this world, Francesco was headstrong, carefree, and fun-loving, and this approach to life didn’t waver for years to come.

In the spring of 1966, he decided to leave his beloved home country alongside his little brother, Agostino, to join his sister, Maria in the USA in search of better opportunities. He worked different jobs for a few years before establishing his own successful business, Fords’ Home Improvement. They were later joined by two more brothers, Tommaso and Michele. The brothers had an unwavering bond that withstood all obstacles and hardships, and manifested in their love of family.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rosa (nee Preiti), his daughters Marcella and her husband Andrea Cutrona, Francesca and her husband Nicholas Koval, and his beloved grandchildren: Ciro, Rosanna, Francesco, Olivia, and Marco. He is also survived by his brother Agostino and wife Patricia, sister Romana, sisters-in-law Domenica and Maria Cristina, in addition to many loving sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law abroad. He is predeceased by his parents, brothers Pasquale, Giuseppe, Domenico, Tommaso, Antonio, and Michele, sisters Petronilla and Maria.

Francesco loved gardening, making soppressata and ‘Nduja, the beach, politics, his pet chickens, soccer, traveling, and playing a game of cards. However, nothing brought him greater joy than spoiling and spending time with the loves of his life, his grandchildren, taking them to the park, McDonald’s, on a joy ride to the beach, or to Dunkin Donuts. You could always count on him for a drop-in visit, a funny story, a joke, a fiery political argument, an early morning surprise delivery of fresh vegetables, and above all, a witty comeback. He had friends wherever he went, and if he didn’t know someone in the room, he made friends easily with his charm. He will be forever missed by all those he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.
