Francesca (D’Avella) Biancardi, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday February 12th,
surrounded by her loving family in Wayne NJ. She was born on January 11, 1933 in Avella Italy
to Saverio and Filomena D’Avella. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of friends and family,
but her memory will forever be cherished.
Francesca was known for her joy for life, sense of humor, kindness, compassion, and
unwavering love for her family and friends. She touched the lives of so many with her warmth,
generosity and unconditional love leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of
knowing her.
Francesca was a devoted wife to her childhood sweetheart Francesco with whom she is now
reunited in heaven, no doubt greeting each other with a loving embrace and a plate of her
Sunday pasta with meatballs and a homemade glass of wine. They started their love affair as
teenagers in Italy, married on September 28, 1958. They started a family, moved to Germany in
1966 and eventually immigrated to America in 1969.
As a mother, Francesca was selfless and devoted. She nurtured and guided her three sons,
Elia, Saverio and Mario, with boundless love and support, instilling in them a joy for life and
values of integrity, compassion, and resilience. She loved nothing more than to gather her
family around a homemade meal, recount endless stories of family and friends and get
everyone to laugh out loud.
Francesca was an avid gardener and never met a plant she didn’t love. Her tomatoes were
plump and juicy, her home was always overflowing with flowers of every color under the
rainbow. In her later years she became notorious for sneaking seeds into potted plants
unbeknownst to her son. The mystery plants that emerged became a source of great
amusement.
Francesca will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her memory will forever live on in the
hearts of her family and friends.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Elia and Heidi Biancardi of Sandy Hook,
Connecticut, Saverio and Denise Biancardi of Garner, North Carolina, and Mario and Marianna
Biancardi of Wayne, New Jersey; sisters, Carmelina (D’Avella) Palma, Giuseppina (D’Avella)
Palmieri of Italy; and five wonderful grandchildren, Christopher, Francesco, Michael, Matteo and
Gianna Biancardi.
Visitation is Monday February 19 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New
Dover Road, Edison, New Jersey. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 20 from
8:30AM to 9:30AM at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00AM Mass at St. John Vianney RC
Church, 420 Inman Ave, Colonia. Committal service and entombment to follow in St. Gertrude's
Cemetery, Colonia. All who knew her are invited to attend and pay their respects.
May Francesca rest in eternal peace, knowing she was deeply loved and cherished by all who
had the privilege of knowing her.
