Fernando Archeval, 74, died June 10, 2021, at his home in Colonia, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born September 14, 1946, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In the early 1950’s Fernando moved with his family to Carteret, where he attended school. Fernando worked for 25 years as a machinist at US Metals, where he also served as a union shop steward for the United Steel Workers Union. When US Metals closed, he started a painting business (A. Nando Painting), working on residential and commercial properties for over 15 years. He married Ludovina Velazquez of Port Reading, NJ, on December 9, 1972, and last December they celebrated 48 years of marriage. Fernando was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner of St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church. Fernando was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his large family and was a devoted Mets and Giants fan. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing and listening to good music. Friends and family fondly remember Fernando for his selfless service, humility, magnetic personality and infectious smile.
Fernando was predeceased by his father Julio Archeval and his mother Rosa Candelario. He is survived by his wife, his son, Anthony Archeval, Esq. of Kensington, Maryland and his wife Kristina; daughters, Lisa Rodriguez of Perth Amboy, Dana Archeval and her fiancée David Romero of Carteret; grandchildren, Bianca Rodriguez, Eliias Vega, Jacob Vega, Justine Vega, Luke Archeval, Matteo Archeval, Chloe Archeval, Alexander Archeval and Gabriel Archeval; brother Pablo Ortiz of Port St. Lucie, FL; sisters, Sonia Roman and her husband Orlando of Perth Amboy, Evelyn Redondo and her husband Jose; and many nieces and nephews.
Two viewings will be held on Wednesday June 16 at 2pm - 4 pm, and 7 pm – 9 pm at Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Road, Edison, NJ. A funeral Mass will be held 10:45 a.m. Thursday, June 17 at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, 420 Inman Avenue, Colonia. Entombment will be at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Those who wish to remember Fernando in a special way may make gifts in his memory to St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, 420 Inman Avenue, Colonia, NJ 07067.
