Ellen Lenart Spiridon, 71, passed away at JFK Medical Center on June 1, 2020.
Born in Newark, New Jersey to Frank and Margaret Lenart, she graduated from Union High School, and went on to pursue a degree in Education at Newark State College. Upon graduation, she was a teacher in Elizabeth for 40 years until her retirement in 2010. Ellen wanted to make a difference in all of her students lives, and went above and beyond to make her classroom an unforgettable experience that had a lasting impact for thousands of those students. She was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award in the Governor’s Teacher Recognition Program from the Elizabeth Board of Education in 1988, an honor which she cherished greatly. A supporter of classical music, Ellen would travel to see her daughter, Kristen perform with various orchestras around the country, and supported her lifes dream to be a professional musician.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Margaret Lenart. She is survived by her daughter, Kristen, numerous nieces and nephews, and her special “golden girls” Bella and Daphne. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, a memorial service will be postponed to a later date.
