Eleanor M Messina

   Eleanor Marie Messina, 96, passed away peacefully on the 5th of September, 2022 at her home in Colonia, NJ. She was born on the 16th of July 1926 in Elizabeth, NJ to her parents Paul and Maria LaFaso. Eleanor was a very kind and loving woman who was always there for her family and friends. She loved to bake Italian cookies and apple pie as well as make potato salad. These were abundantly present at every holiday and family celebration.
   Eleanor enjoyed card games with family, bingo, doing word puzzles, going on bus trips and playing slot machines at the casinos. She was active in the Colonia Senior Club and participated in many of the programs at Colonia Senior Multiservices. She enjoyed volunteering, calling bingo and providing her baked goods for senior events. She received many awards for her volunteering efforts. She loved to thank people and tell them that her guardian angel was watching over them.
    Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Joseph and all of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son Carmen Messina and his wife Lorraine, her son Paul Messina, her grandchildren Jason Messina and his wife Kim, Bryan Messina, Gabrielle LaMarca and her husband Louis, Joseph Messina and Lia Messina, and her great grandchildren (her
baby dolls) Liliana LaMarca and Olivia Madison Messina.

Visitation Wednesday September 7, 2022 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road Edison. Funeral Services Thursday September 8, 2022 9:00am at the funeral home followed by a 10:00am mass at St John Vianney Church Colonia. Interment Mt Olivet Cemetery 158 Mt Olivet Ave Newark, NJ.
