In Loving Memory of Eleanor Hrasok
November 27, 1936 – June 3, 2025
Eleanor “Ellie” Hrasok, a long-time resident of Colonia, passed away in her home at the age of 88. Born in Jersey City on November 27, 1936, she was the beloved daughter of the late John and Josephine (née Michalkowski) Hrasok, and is predeceased by the love of her life, the late Adam Sokolowski.
Ellie, as she was known to all, considered herself very lucky to have made many sweet friends-some of whom have passed on—wherever she went. Their kindness and companionship brought joy to her life and made her love it all the more. Unapologetically herself, she carved out a unique path in the world and spent her career working in New York City as an insurance specialist.
An avid world traveler, Ellie embraced adventure and exploration. Her travels took her across the globe, and she returned from each trip with new stories, souvenirs, and a spark in her eye. Even in everyday life, she carried herself with a flair for the extraordinary—her wardrobe was always elegant, often glamorous, and unmistakably “Ellie.”
In her later years, she was a member of both the Colonia Seniors Club and the Evergreen Seniors Club, where she enjoyed taking part in activities and events—and where she was always treated with kindness. Though she kept to herself in many ways, Ellie left an impression on everyone she met. There was a certain mystique to her— always distinctive, always particular, and never afraid to speak her mind.
Ellie is survived by her brother Edward Hrasok, her dearest chosen family, Paul and Lula Rastocny, and their children, Adrian Infantino and her husband Anthony Infantino, and Stephen Rastocny, along with many cousins especially Joan Byrnes, Karen Fagen, Barbara Slominski, Betty Peri, Bud Shapter and their families, dearest friends Shirley Testa, Beverly Schrock, Pauline Ortyl, and Judy Sendelsky her good neighbor. Eleanor will be remembered with fondness and admiration by her family, friends, neighbors and those lucky enough to have crossed paths with her.
