Eileen Mary Thompson, of Iselin passed away on Monday, May 30th at JFK Medical Center in Edison with her loving daughters by her side. She was 76.
Born in the Bronx, NY and an avid Yankee Fan, she resided in Iselin for 69 years where she raised her loving family. She graduated from Saint Peter’s High School in New Brunswick. She was employed by JFK Medical Center as an administrative assistant where she met her loving husband, in addition to volunteering in her community. She was later employed as an administrative assistant by Central Jersey IPA in Plainfield. She continued her education specializing in court transcription and started her own successful business as a scopist, working for various court reporters in the central NJ area for many years until her retirement. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Cecelia’s RC Church in Iselin.
Eileen will always be remembered for her devotion to her family and community. Her dedication included volunteering as class parent and PTO member for St. Cecelia’s School in Iselin where she served as editor and publisher of the monthly school bulletin and co-leader of Brownie Troop 220 with her lifelong friend, Marilyn Cahill. After retirement, “Mema”, as she was called by her six grandchildren, spent many years caring for them on a regular basis. She will always be remembered for being there for her family or a friend in need. Mema was a regular at all of her children’s and grandchildren’s various events throughout the years. She also enjoyed watching her daughters’ cheerleading tournaments with her dear friend Loretta Miller, ceramics, gardening, and attending craft fairs with her daughters and sisters.
She is predeceased by her loving family members; mother, Dorothy Storms (2015), father, Randolph Storms (1959), beloved husband, Bruce E. Thompson (2016), sister, Margaret Storms, (2019), and cousin, Brian Conklin (2014).
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Karen & John Dreboty of Kendall Park and Lori & James Sentman of Monmouth Junction; six grandchildren, Madison, John Jr., Chase, Caitlyn, Matthew and Ryan who adored their “Mema”; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Kenneth Reilly of West Grove, PA, sister, Kathleen Storms of Manalapan; a niece, several nephews, and cousins. Her loving nature will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 2nd from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 3rd at 8:30 AM at the funeral home, followed by a 10 AM Mass at St. Cecelia’s RC Church, Iselin. Entombment to follow at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.
