Edward Norton, 55, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 4, 2024. Born in Jersey City, Ed and his family have lived in Colonia, NJ, for the past 22 years.
A graduate of Saint Peter’s College with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Ed proudly served his community as a Patrolman in the Bayonne Police Department for 26 years. Ed was also a member of the Bayonne Emerald Society. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends and fishing in the lakes of New Jersey and the Atlantic Ocean down in Brigantine.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife Susan (Colbath), and his loving children Kevin Smith and his fiancée Angelica, Ryan Smith, Mary Norton and her boyfriend Cameron, Joseph Norton, and the family dog Arrow, who joined the household when Ed’s favorite football team, the Seattle Seahawks, won Super Bowl XLVIII.
Ed was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Jeane, and his sister Elizabeth. He is survived by siblings Joseph (Fran) Norton, Mary Ann (James) Pona, Jeane Norton, Thomas Norton, Patricia Norton, Cecilia Norton, Carolyn (James) Davies, Kathleen (Stephen) Yautz, and Francis Norton. Ed will also be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews, his mother-in-law, Theresa Colbath, his sisters-in-laws, and their families, who will cherish their fond memories of him.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 10th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Road, Edison, NJ, 08820. On Tuesday, June 11th at 10 a.m. a Funeral Mass will be held at St. John Vianney, 420 Inman Avenue, Colonia, NJ.
