Edith Leonardis, longtime resident of Florham Park New Jersey, passed away on March 30, 2020 from complications from COVID 19 virus.
Born in Newark, NJ on July 12, 1931, she was the daughter of Maria and Vito Leonardis, pre-deceased by her sisters Lena Leonardis, Josephine LoChiatto and survived by her brother Alfonse Leonardis and brother-in law Emil LoChiatto. She was the devoted aunt to Rosemarie Bracuto, Joyce LoChiatto and Vito LoChiatto. Other surviving family members are the family of Alfonse Leonardis and her loving cousins, the Conforti family; Antonio and Licia and their children, Maria and Andy Savvides, and their children.
She was a legend in the kitchen industry and from a young age learned, with her brother, from her father an immigrant from Italy, who was an esteemed cabinet maker.
One would eagerly wait months for an appointment with Leonardis Kitchens, flush with anticipation that Edith would create the space of their dreams. Her kitchens expressed a great deal of about her philosophy of life – that kitchen is the heart of the home – and that space is special and congenial gathering place for family and friends. Edith was the embodiment of hospitality and that was evident through her designs.
More than her love for kitchen design was her love for God and the church.
She was devoted to the Christian faith, her family and friends and enjoyed fellowship with those of faith and love for God. She was an elegant woman with much grace and beauty. She will be so very missed by her family and dear friends. There is a deep void without her presence on this earth and know that she is with her Lord, where she has properly placed her crown.
Aunt Edie, you now abide in the mansion that the Lord prepared for you.
A funeral service was held on April 3, 2020 with limited family and friends in attendance.
Donations in her loving memory can be made to a charity of choice to benefit those in need, such as the Samaritan’s Purse www.samaritanspurse.org/donate and Habitat for Humanity www.habitat.org/
