Dr. Frank Stiso Obituary

Dr. Frank A. Stiso

Dr. Frank A. Stiso, 85, born on April 8, 1941, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of service, laughter, faith, and devotion. Frank was truly one of a kind. He was the sun that every family member orbited, possessing a rare inner light that naturally drew people in. The moment he walked into a room, his presence filled it. To many he was a trusted chiropractor, to others a respected leader in his profession, but to everyone fortunate enough to know him, Frank was unforgettable. To say he was one of a kind is an understatement. Larger than life, he never met a stranger, only someone who hadn't yet become a friend.

Frank’s quick wit and unique vocabulary made him a prolific storyteller. His ability to paint pictures with words would captivate your imagination, transporting you back in time and making you feel as though you were actually there. He could turn even life’s most frustrating flops and disasters into hilarious, unforgettable tales that you would remember for years to come.

Born in Rahway, New Jersey, to Pasquale and Elizabeth Stiso, Frank was the second of three children, alongside his sister Dolores and brother Richard. A proud Rahway High School graduate, he cherished his roots, his love for the 1950s, classic cars, Doo-Wop music, and memories of a truly golden age. In his senior year, a fateful football injury changed the course of his life. After his family doctor told him his season was over, he was seen by a chiropractic physician in Linden, NJ. After only a few treatments, he was back on the field ready to play. This experience ignited a passion for natural healing and launched Frank’s journey to becoming a healthcare provider.

After college, Frank received his doctorate degree from the Chiropractic Institute of New York. In 1965, Dr. Stiso opened the Colonia Chiropractic Center on Inman Avenue, where he cared for generations of local families for more than 60 years. His commitment extended far beyond his practice: he held numerous chiropractic leadership roles at both state and national levels throughout his career, most notably serving as the NJ delegate for the American Chiropractic Association. In 2009, he was honored with the Association of NJ Chiropractors Lifetime Achievement Award.

Nothing made Dr. Stiso prouder than his family. In 1965, he married the love of his life, Marlene, beginning a partnership of more than six decades. Together, they raised four children in Colonia, three of whom followed him into chiropractic, and he was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and one-great grandchild. Outside of work, he loved the Jersey Shore, spending time fishing, crabbing, and clamming, which was always best when shared with family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marlene; his devoted children and their spouses, Mary (Anthony), Michele (James), Darlene (Robert), and Frank R. (Kathryn); his nephew, Jordan (Teri); his brother, Richard; his cherished grandchildren, Olivia, John, Nina, Alessia, Ella, Dean, Jack, Darren, and Mason; and his great-grandson, Theodore. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always celebrated.
