Dr. Eduardo Villafranca Medrano 83, a resident of Colonia, NJ passed into eternal rest on February 10, 2020.
He was born and raised in the Philippines and immigrated to the UnitedStates in 1963 shortly after earning his medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines. He completed his pediatric internship at St. Mary’s Hospital in Hoboken, NJ and his residencies at Brooklyn Cumberland Medical Center and St. Vincent’s Hospital in Staten Island, NY. Dr. Medrano opened a clinic in Jersey City, NJ and Perth Amboy, NJ. He also served as Director of Pediatrics at St. Francis Hospital in Jersey City, NJ. He worked for more than 40 years at these underserved communities and received many awards for his dedication to his patients. He was a pillar of hope to many he served.
Aside from his dedication to his work Dr. Medrano was also dedicated to his family. Family always came first and instilled these beliefs to his children. He was a leader, loyal, kind, caring, protective, had an unbreakable integrity and foremost humble. He reached for the stars when he moved to the US and created a legacy for his family . A legacy of hard work that was passed down to his children. He loved to garden, collect antiques, and watch old movies.
He is predeceased by his wife Theresita Palma Medrano, his son Norman Joseph Medrano DC,parents Meliton and Catalina Medrano and siblings Luninging Medrano Montenegro, Amelia Villafranca Medrano, Florante Villafranca Medrano DMD,Reynaldo Villafranca Medrano,Honesto Villafranca Medrano, Rosalinda Villafranca Medrano and Bituin Villafranca Medrano. He is survived by his daughters Melanie Ann Medrano Bloom DMD ( Scott William Bloom MD),Christina Marie Medrano Phipps MD (Thomas Andrew Phipps MD), son Nelson Edward Medrano. DC ( Arlene Macario Medrano) and his grandchildren Denys Ryan Medrano Esq,Alexander Nicholas Medrano, Aaron Nelson Medrano, Alyssa Nyah Medrano, Addyson Morgan Medrano Phipps, Christian William Medrano Bloom, Caeden William Medrano Bloom and brother Jose Villafranca Medrano (Marcelina Lopez Medrano, MD).
