Dorothy McKechnie

Dorothy McKechnie (Mom, Ma, Grammie, Meme, Aunt Dot, Dottie, Miss Prim) 92, longtime
resident of Toms River, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on November 8 th 2022. She was
born in Linden, New Jersey to Michael and Mary Piascik on May 8, 1930. Dorothy went to St.
Mary’s High School in Elizabeth where she met, then married her sweetheart, William
McKechnie (Hon, Daddy, Pa) on May 26, 1951. She worked as a claims coder for St. Paul’s
Insurance Company for many years. Dorothy was a devout Catholic with a deep love for the
Blessed Mother. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy,
and not a day went by without her sharing a kind word, a hearty laugh, some hot tea or an
adventurous story with one or more of them. Dottie was known for her love of Disney, Atlantic
City, a lovely meal, QVC, flowers and butterflies and an impeccable sense of elegant style. Her
loving heart and endless generosity will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, beloved daughter Karin (Karsie),
brother Michael and many other loving family members and friends.
Dorothy is survived by her sister Lorraine and husband Norman Salt, daughter Lauren Mazur,
son-in-law John Mazur, son Bill McKechnie, daughter-in-law Sue McKechnie, son-in-law Frank
Krenek, granddaughters Jessica Witty (husband Tommy Witty), Katelyn Dowd (husband Kevin
Dowd), Kayla DeGhetto (husband Dean DeGhetto), Sarra Piscitelli (husband Luigi Piscitelli), and
Paige Mazur, grandsons Michael, Christian and Tyler Krenek (wife Allison Smith), Billy
McKechnie (wife Erin McKechnie), Matthew McKechnie (fiancé Frances Glaser), and Paddy
McKechnie, great grandchildren Hugh DeGhetto and Sawyer, Cooper and Noelle (Ellie) Dowd,
dog Papillon and many cherished family members and friends.

Visitation Sunday November 13, 2022 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Funeral visitation will be Monday November 14, 2022 from 8:45am to 9:45am at the funeral home followed by a 10:15am Mass at St Cecelia Churh, Iselin. Interment will be at St Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
