Dorothy (Dot) Mary Hughes (formerly Villano) of Milton, DE, formerly of Kearny, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday January 3, 2020, at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dorothy was born in Newark, NJ on August 20, 1936, to the late Anthony Villano and the late Carmella Mary Villano (formerly Manfredi). She managed the Dunkin Donuts on Broad Street in Bloomfield for over 25 years. After moving to Milton, DE in 2018, Dorothy enjoyed just spending quality time with her family.
Dot had a strong work ethic and a great joy for what she did. She also had a love for horse racing and spending time in Atlantic City and Las Vegas. Dot will be fondly remembered as an incredibly loving and giving mom, grandma, and aunt by her family. Her biggest joy was time spent with her family and spoiling her grandchildren, and also her grand-dogs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hughes, in 2012; and her sister, Marilyn Greenhalgh, in 1994. She is survived by four children, Stephen Thomas Hughes and his wife Patricia Hughes of Edison, NJ; Ann Marie Tuttle of Lewes, DE; Christopher Anthony Hughes and his husband Kent Swarts of Rehoboth Beach, DE; Richard John Hughes of Manhattan, NY; and four grandchildren, Christopher William Tuttle, Corey Richard Tuttle, Robert Stephen Hughes, and Stephanie Nicole Hughes.
Visitation Monday January 6, 2020 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Blessing Tuesday January 7, 2020 10:00am at the funeral home followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ
