Doris R. Rizzolo, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, age 93 passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024, at Roosevelt Care Center in Edison, NJ. Born on April 24, 1931, in Irvington, NJ to Josephine Barrese and Alfred G. Rotondi Sr. Doris, along with her brother Alfred G. Rotondi Jr. and sister Beatrice Resciniti, grew up in Irvington, NJ. She graduated from Irvington High School where she played in the marching band and was a member of the All Girls Chorus. She continued her studies in business education at Montclair State Teachers College where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree. She was an elementary teacher until she became pregnant with her first child. Later, she became a Data Analyst for the State of New Jersey in their Energy Department.
Doris resided in Millburn, NJ where she raised a family of three children. She was a loving mother who was devoted to her children and later to her grandchildren. She was kind and compassionate. She loved to bake Christmas cookies and make cannoli, carrying on her mother’s traditions and then passing them on to her children.
Doris is survived by her children: Allene D. Rizzolo, Anthony Rizzolo Jr. and his wife Josephine, and Carla Rizzolo-Glick. She was a loving Nanny to Eric Scholwin Jr. and his wife Andrea, Dr. Jennifer Menon and her husband Praneet, Joseph Scholwin, Brian Scholwin, Katelyn Bebo and her husband Dakota, Stefania Rizzolo, Stephen Glick and Catherine Glick. Doris also leaves behind her adored Great Grandchildren, Aenea Menon, Kain and Riley Scholwin, and Atticus and Remy Bebo. She was predeceased by her daughter, Ellen, her mother, Josephine, her father Alfred, her brother Alfred Jr, her sister, Beatrice Resciniti and her son -in-law Robert Glick.
Doris will be deeply missed, yet her legacy of warmth, wisdom, and love will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
