Doris Pickering passed away on Saturday April 25, 2020 , at Care One in Livingston N.J. She was 89 years old.
Doris was born in Rahway N.J. on April 22, 1931 , and was the eighth of nine children to Helen and John Warga.
As a youth, Doris was on the school basketball team, and enjoyed sports, especially football, throughout her life.
Along with sports, Doris enjoyed all kinds of music, movie musicals, and was an especially good baker of cakes and cookies.
Above all, Doris was devoted to her family.
After graduating Rahway High School, Doris was employed at Merck and Co, Rahway N.J.
Doris was married to Albert Manes in 1953 until his passing in 1976.
They settled in Colonia NJ in 1959 and raised their two sons, Mark and Carl there.
The family enjoyed summer vacations including summers at Long Beach Island, a road trip to Florida, and a road trip to California .
Later in life, Doris met and married John “ Tom” Pickering and they moved to a new home in Whitehouse Station N.J. in 1986.
Tom and Doris remained very active in their retirement years; traveling, and enjoying the grandchildren.
Doris was predeceased by Tom in 2009. Surviving are son Mark Manes and wife Marilyn , son Carl Manes, grandson Jason Manes, Jamie Uyami, granddaughter Nicole Vallejo and husband Juan, and three great grand-children, Mila, Mackenzie, and Viviana, 1 brother Richard Warga and wife Margaret, and several nieces and nephews.
