Doris M Lyness

Doris M. Lyness, 91, of Colonia, NJ passed away on 12/27/20. Doris was born on September 12, 1929 to Anthony Scudieri and Anne Owens in Paterson, NJ. Doris began her teaching career at Busy-Bee Nursery School in Rahway, NJ. Later, she was instrumental in founding the St. John Vianney preschool in Colonia. She taught there as well as the elementary school until her retirement. She was much loved and respected by her students and colleagues alike. Her hobbies included sailing on “Rosebud”, kite flying and gardening as well as her weekly card games with “The Bridge Ladies”. She is survived by her son Michael and wife Donna, daughter Judy, son Robert and wife Bea, son William and wife Aida, daughter Martha and husband Mark, daughter Barbara and her husband Ronald. As well by her grandchildren, Justin, Lauren, Michelle, Billy, Dana, Jake, Amanda, Sarah, Lauren, Rachel, Taylor, Olivia, her brother Bart Scudieri and his wife Lorraine and their five children and her devoted and faithful caregiver Manana who cared for her for the past 15 years. And her greatgrandchildren Rosalie, Jaxson, Dakota, Holland, Brooklyn and Lucy.

Visitation will take place at the Gosselin Funeral Home at 660 New Dover Road Edison, NJ from 2:00-6:00PM on Wednesday December 30, 2020. Funeral services at 8:30AM on Thursday December 31, 2020. Funeral mass will take place on Thursday December 31 at 9:30AM at St. John Vianney Church in Colonia. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
