Doris Bence

Doris B. Bence passed away peacefully on January. 7, 2022.  Doris was born in Jersey City New Jersey where she ran five blood banks.  It was there that she met the love of her life George Bence.  Doris and George married and started their life together in Colonia New Jersey where they raised two sons that she adored with all her heart.  Doris remained in their marital home for 53 years prior to moving to Whispering Knolls Assisted Living Center in Edison approximately 8 months ago.

Doris was small in stature yet full of advice, spirit, and a force to be reckoned with.  At the same time, she was kind, loyal and generous.

A realtor by trade since 1976 at a time when it was a man’s world Doris opened and successfully operated Doris B. Bence Realty, Inman Avenue, Colonia as broker owner.  She remained active until her retirement in 2016.  Doris, always full of life enjoyed traveling having gone on over 50 cruises throughout Europe and the Caribbean.  

Doris was predeceased by her parents Robert and Josephine Fialk, her husband George Bence, her son Steven Bence, 4 brothers, Harold, Raymond, Richard and George and her beloved fur baby Benji.  She is survived by her beloved son Don and daughter-in-law Cindy, two grandchildren Vincent and Nicole Darpino, her Loving Goddaughter Lyn Keogh and her husband Brendan Keogh as well 22 nieces and nephews.  

Visitation Tuesday January 11, 2022 from 9:30am to 11:30am followed by an 11:30 Blessing here at the funeral home. Entombment St Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations in Doris’s name be made to the Woodbridge Animal Shelter.
