Our loving father, brother, uncle, friend and husband was taken from us over the weekend, unexpectedly.
David was born on September 24th, 1958, to parents Rosemary and Theodore. Ever the athlete, David loved playing soccer, football and even frisbee golf (his sons ignored the FROLF). David was a reader. He loved science fiction and contemporary American writers (He was particularly proud of his conquering of James Joyce). Aside from sports and reading, David loved to cook, perhaps his family’s favorite of his hobbies. The children will dearly miss Sunday dinners with sauce and the like. Finally, David was also quite talented at guitar, and even received a Ukulele for Christmas, his idea.
David came from humble beginnings. He put himself through college and quickly established a successful career at Prudential. He worked as a Database Administrator for 30+ years for Prudential and finally for Imagine Software in New York City. He was self-taught, and militant in the way he provided for the family.
Above all else, David was the ideal father and husband. He bought us our first instruments, he coached soccer for many seasons, and he guided both children through college and early professional life with love and tenderness.
Perhaps most memorably, we will never forget his humor. His whit was like a whip. He was sharp, and loved a good debate. The dinner table was always electric with conversation.
David was taken from his family far too early. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Devito, his two sons Matthew and Andrew, his mother, Rosemary Schley, his sister, Dawn Modica and his nephew Christopher.
