Daniel E. Sheehan of Long Branch, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on August 4, 2023, surrounded by those who loved him dearly.
Dan is survived by his brother Kevin Sheehan of Fords, New Jersey, and his wife Phyllis; and, his former wife Mary Beth Murphy Sheehan of Cranford, New Jersey. He is also survived by his nieces, Allison Jones and her children Emily and Connor, Amy Hendrickson, and her children Dorian and Devin, Sara Petti and her children Cora and Ethan, Emily Baydal and her children, Aiyanna, Michael, and Isla.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Margaret Sheehan of Elizabeth, New Jersey, and his sister, Mary Lou Sella of Oklahoma.
Dan Sheehan was born on February 7, 1953, in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He also resided in Roselle Park, Cranford, Summit, and Long Branch, New Jersey. He graduated from St.Mary’s of the Assumption in 1971. He attended culinary school at NYU receiving a certificate in Culinary Arts. He had a long and distinguished culinary career spanning over 50 years, beginning as a cook for St.Elizabeth’s Hospital, continuing at St. Barnabas Hospital of Livingston as the Food Services Director, and leading to Monmouth Medical Center where he was the Regional Director of Food and Nutrition, until his retirement in June of 2021.
Dan was passionate about the NY Giants, whatever team was defeating the yankees, horse racing and his family. He was a generous individual who loved supporting organizations such as, Wounded Warriors, Tunnels to Towers, and St Jude. He was a skilled chef with a beautiful faith. He served as an altar boy at St Mary’s of the Assumption Church and remained altruistic throughout his life.
Visitation will be at Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Road, Edison, New Jersey, on Wednesday August 9, 2023, between 4:00-8:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Michael's Church, 800 Ocean Avenue, Long Branch, New Jersey, on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 10:00 AM.
