Daniel D'Alessandro Obituary

Daniel J. D’Alessandro, 85, of Colonia NJ, passed away on January 29, 2025. He was born in
Brooklyn NY, to the late Peter and Mary DeAlessandro.
Daniel worked in the computer industry after graduation from Fairleigh Dickinson in 1961. He
was an integral part of such big companies such as Burroughs, Dialogic, and Intel. He worked
full time until the age of 82. When he was not behind a computer screen, he pursued his true
passion which was gardening. In the summer, he could be found in the backyard tending to
some kind of plant, whether it be the beautiful flower gardens which he decorated with the
concrete statues that he designed, or the vegetable gardens which were started in the
greenhouse he built. He received his Master Gardener’s Degree from Rutgers University. He
was responsible for building the butterfly houses on Cook campus. He was expert at problem
solving, whether it was repairing a car or troubleshooting a household appliance. He found joy
in tinkering with parts, which he recycled and used to fix other things.
Outside the garden and the office, Daniel was dedicated to his family. He married the love of
his life, Eleanor, in 1963, and together they raised three children who carry on this legacy of
hard work. He was a devout Catholic, never missing mass, even on vacation. His sense of
humor, positive outlook, and generous nature will be greatly missed.
He is predeceased by his parents, his brothers Peter and Dennis, niece Denise, and son-in-law
Chris.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Eleanor, and three children: Gina Phillips and fiance
Robert, Anthony D’Alessandro and his wife Renae, and Maria Clemente and her husband
Michael. He was the proud grandfather (Poppy) of Danielle (husband Josh), Samantha, Ava,
Alexa, and the great grandfather to Juliette. He is also survived by his brother Salvatore
DeAlessandro and his wife Christine, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
