Christine Drebych

Christine Drebych, 86, passed away on Tuesday, November 26th, 2019, at home. Christine was born in Oliiw, Ukraine, on June 24th, 1933. She emigrated to the United States in 1950 and became a naturalized American Citizen in 2009. Christine resided in Edison for the past 37 years. Prior to that, she resided in Irvington, Maplewood, Hillside, Scotch Plains and Colonia.

In her youth, Christine was active with the Ukrainian American Youth Association (CYM) in Newark, NJ and was an avid Ukrainian folk dancer. Christine married her husband George on September 16th, 1961 in Newark, NJ. Christine was an accomplished homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for family gatherings. She also enjoyed spending time with her four granddaughters. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Newark, NJ.

Christine was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Petronella Budnyk, her brother Paul Budnyk and sister Maria Lemega. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty eight years, George; her sons and their wives; Andrew and JoAnn(Kadien) of Edison, Christopher and Susan(Magee) of Milltown, and her four granddaughters; Diana, Alexandra, Erin and Devin. Christine is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Visitation Sunday December 1, 2019 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road Edison. Parastas Services will be Sunday at 5:00pm. Funeral Service will be 10:00am Monday December 2, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Church  719 Sanford Ave, Newark, NJ 07106.
