In loving memory of Chiou Shiong Pei.
1953 - 2020
Chiou Shiong Pei (裴秋香), also known as Susan, age 66, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. She was born on August 10, 1953, and grew up in the Wuqi District of Taichung, Taiwan. She was a loving mother and grandmother, a devoted wife and always cared for everyone around her. She was a warmhearted and brave spirit, moving from Taiwan to make a home in the United States.
Young at heart, she loved bowling, dancing, humming Teresa Teng music and watching romance, wuxia and historical dramas, as well as family videos, especially of her granddaughters who call her Ahma. She worked for many years of her life to help provide for her family. Her math skills were unparalleled and she would have the details in her head of any financial transaction or shopping expedition. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family and made sure they ate well. She was always trendy and fashion-savvy; in Taiwan, she loved shopping at the Ximending District in high heels; in America, she frequently took to the malls, specifically Menlo Park Mall and Woodbridge Mall, to stroll and browse. She also enjoyed the sun and fresh air, often taking walks with her family around the lake at Roosevelt Park in New Jersey. When her children were younger, she would go to the beach and on outings such as Disney World and water parks. She loved to travel and visited sites such as Japan, Spain, China, Hawai’i and around the U.S. She accompanied her husband on many business and leisure trips.
She is survived by her husband, Yuan; her children, Irene, Annie and Roger; and grandchildren, siblings and relatives. Her unconditional affection, support, talents and joy will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
A visitation service is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12 at Gosselin Funeral Home in Edison.
A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date this year at Byron Church in Plainsboro.
