Charles Simonet, a mailer for the Newark Star Ledger and long-time resident of Colonia, NJ, died unexpectedly in his home on February 6, 2021 at the age of 84.
Charles (Charlie) is survived by his wife, Patricia Simonet (Egan); his children, Michael, Daniel (wife Susan, children Michele and Justin) Ronald, Eileen (children, Jonathan and Michael),Richard, Steven (wife Lya, daughter Maureen), Lori (husband Michael), Jayne (husband Martin, children, Martin, Sean and Lisa) and Robert. Grandaughter Michele and husband Tom Marden blessed the family with the first great-grandson, Quinn in October, 2020.
Charles was born in Newark, NJ on April 15, 1936 to Frank Simonet and Mary Morbach. He graduated from Irvington Technical School in 1954 and began his 49-year career at the Star Legder.
Charles was a devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed weight training, reading and horror flicks, and was an avid bowler. He spent much of his free time coaching Merrill Park Little League baseball and taking the family on trips to the beach. He also attended sporting events for his grandchildren often shouting with his booming voice, "THAT'S MY BOY/GIRL!"
