Edison, NJ – Charles Giovia, 82, died peacefully Monday October 15, 2024 on his 82nd birthday at JFK Medical Center. He was born October 15, 1942 in Newark, NJ, the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Tamburro) Giovia. In addition to his parents Charles was predeceased by his long-time friend and companion, Jean Marie Gartner.
Charles worked for Victory Engineering, Union, NJ as for 42 years. He began a second career working for Elmora Pharmacy, Union, NJ for 7 years before retiring at age 71.
Charles enjoyed the Jersey shore, movies, stage shows and loved good food. He had an engaging personality, a ready smile and a warm “have a good day” for everyone he met. He was a parishioner of St. Helena’s Roman Catholic Church.
Charles is survived by his cousins Beatrice Andriate, Grace Williams (Walter), Antonia Ricigliano, Colleen McDonald, Carl Palmisano, Lucille Colosimo, Ronald D’Angelo (Marie) Eric Palmisano (Teri) and many, many friends including Mark and Jean Jardonoff.

Services will be held Sunday, October 20 at Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Road, Edison from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Funeral will be held Monday, October 21 from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Helena’s Roman Catholic Church, Grove Avenue, Edison. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
