Ceferino “Jun” DeVera, Jr., 89, of Edison, NJ, passed in his home on the late evening of March 16, 2025. Jun was born in the Philippines and later moved to Queens, NY before settling in Edison, NJ with his family. He was known in the neighborhood for his laughter, smiles and friendship.
Jun was the son of the late Ceferino DeVera, Sr. and late Mary Lozano, and the brother of the late Oscar DeVera and Jaime DeVera. He was a devoted and loving father. He was the husband of Anlie and father of Lauro (“Larry”), Ana Maria (“Miriam”), Ramoncito (“Monching”), Araceli (“Archie”), Carolina, Susana and Maria (“Mimi”), and was a grandfather to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jun worked in Manhattan at Hecht & Company before retiring. He was hard working and dedicated at his job, while bringing joy and laughter to the workplace. It was always easy for him to make friends at work. Jun was an avid fan of the NY Giants and NY Yankees. He loved simplicity, such as quiet Sunday mornings, listening to classical music while reading the Star Ledger. He loved to sing and play the piano by ear. He liked staying in shape by jogging and working out. With his love of humor, he loved comedies like Candid Camera.
His smile and laughter were contagious. He was gentle, kind, selfless and genuine – and the absolute epitome of love. Anyone that met him could feel his welcoming nature, warmth and love, and he will greatly be missed by all that loved him.
