Barbara Yapczenski Obituary

Barbara Ann Yapczenski passed away at Hackensack Meridian Health Center in Edison, NJ on September 8, 2022. She was born in Newark, NJ, during an air raid drill, February 22, 1941. Barbara grew up in Belleville, NJ, before moving to Colonia, NJ, after marrying the love of her life, Donald Martin Yapczenski. In her early years she worked for a patent attorney, then volunteered in her children’s elementary school library for many years. She also worked as a secretarial assistant at a local podiatrist office.

Barbara was an avid reader and took many trips to the local public library. Many family vacations were taken to Maine, Florida, North Carolina, California and even traveled by car to Colorado to visit her brother’s family. Southwestern states and southwest motif were a favorite of Barbara’s which she enjoyed the natural sites and historical culture, stopping along the way to take in the beauty of what nature created.
Four lucky dogs were loved by Barbara~ Gunnison, Sandy, Cheyenne and Mojo surely met her at the rainbow bridge. Barbara loved spending time with her 5 grandchildren at family get togethers, holidays and barbeques. She was a fantastic gift giver, sent cards out for every birthday and loved to catch up by phone to loved ones out of state. She held on to long time friendships and
cherished them as family.

Barbara is predeceased by her parents, Josephine Neigherbauer (nee Kastner) and Edward Neigherbauer, and brother, Edward Neigherbauer.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 53 years, Donald; daughter Dale Serebnick and her husband Steven; son Gregory and his wife Nicholle; Edward (Ted) and his wife Madelene. 5 grandchildren; Jordyn, Andrew and Ava Serebnick; Katrina and Donald Yapczenski; her brother James Neigherbauer and his wife Linda; along with many nieces and nephews.

 

Memorial service visitation will be held on Sunday, October, 9th from 4-7 PM at the Gosselin Funeral Home at 660 New Dover Road. Funeral Mass will be Monday, October, 10th at 10 AM at St. John Vianney R.C. Church, Colonia at 420 Inman Avenue.
