Barbara Ann Kornecki 1949 – 2023
An angel on Earth has left us to become our Guardian Angel in Heaven. Mom was
unique in every way possible and had a heart of gold. There wasn’t anything she
wouldn’t do or give to help someone and the love she gave was immeasurable.
Barbara Ann Kornecki, 74, of Colonia, NJ, died in her home on December 28,
2023.
She was born in Elizabeth in 1949 to Lottie and John Pudlak and was one of their
five children. Barbara had four brothers, John Pudlak Jr., Edward Pudlak, Richard
Pudlak and Stanley Pudlak.
Barbara met the love of her life, James Kornecki in 1962 when they were just 13
years old. Dad was the paper boy and delivered the Daily Journal to her home.
The love they had for each other blossomed and with excitement to start their
lives together, the two were married on November 15, 1969.
Barbara has two sons, James Kornecki Jr. and Kevin Kornecki and daughter-in-law
Alison Kornecki, wife to Kevin. Her children meant the world to her and she
always made us feel special.
Though Barbara loved a great many things in life, it was her becoming a
grandparent that gave her the ability to share her love with them even more.
Barbara treasured her time with her grandchildren: Shane Tyler Kornecki and
Chase Everett Kornecki and loved being their “BeBe”. It was always important to
her that they knew how much they were loved by her and every moment
together was truly treasured.
Barbara worked in the public school system for a number of years, first as a lunch
aid in an elementary school in Elizabeth to becoming an assistant working with
handicapped children and once again sharing her love, kindness and compassion
with each of them.
There would be a new path for Barbara and that was working in the craft & hobby
industry. She worked for DMC Corporation which is a floss and fiber company and
enjoyed her years with this company. It was their relocation that caused her to
make a move to another company (where her son James Jr. worked) in the same
industry: Joan Toggitt Ltd., an importing company of Zweigart fabrics. Barbara
held the position of receptionist and clerk as well as the handling all of the
company’s promotional mailings, newsletters and product updates. Barbara
would eventually go onto working with her son James Jr. in the family business of
bringing needlework products to the stitching community.
Barbara officially retired in 2015 which then gave her the time to be in the home
she greatly loved. Always filled with warmth and love, it was her special place to
be.
Everyone who knew Barbara knew how much she loved to entertain, from early
on the doors to our home were always open. There were countless holiday
celebrations, birthdays, home interior demonstration parties, Tupper-ware
parties, the list could easily keep going.
Barbara loved to dance and you could always count on her to get the dance floor
moving at any wedding or celebration, even on Christmas or New Year’s Eve in
her home where the dining room furniture would all be moved so that the
dancing could begin.
Barbara will always be remembered for her big heart and the way that she always
managed to be there for anyone who needed her. We couldn’t have asked for a
better mother, grandmother, spouse to the love of her life and friend to all those
around her. Barbara will be missed every day and her memory will certainly live
on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
Barbara was preceded in death by parents Lottie Pudlak and John Pudlak Sr. and
brother Edward Pudlak and is survived by her husband James Kornecki, her sons
James Kornecki Jr. and Kevin Kornecki, daughter-in-law Alison Kornecki,
grandchildren Shane Kornecki and Chase Kornecki, brothers John Pudlak Jr. and
his wife (sister-in-law) Roseann Pudlak, their children Lisa and Daniel, Richard
Pudlak, Stanley Pudlak and his wife Carol Pudlak, sister-in-law Anne Marie Pudlak
and her children Edward, Michelle, Christine and Eric, her brother-in law William
Kornecki and his wife (sister-in-law) Estelle Kornecki and their children Kimberly
and Jennifer. Barbara was also a beloved cousin and great aunt.
