Antonio “Tony” DaSilva, age 90, of Whiting, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026.
Tony was born on November 24, 1935, in San Miguel, Azores. He later pursued his education at the University of Coimbra in Portugal, an achievement he carried with quiet pride throughout his life.
Above all else, Tony was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He lived for his family and found his greatest joy and purpose in caring for them. He was most proud of his grandchildren, who were the light of his life and a constant source of happiness and gratitude.
Tony was known as a deeply compassionate, gregarious, and empathetic man. A man of simple pleasures, he approached life with humility, kindness, and an open heart. His strong Catholic faith guided him throughout his life and shaped the way he loved, served, and connected with others.
Antonio is survived by his cherished wife, Mafalda DaSilva; his loving son, Paul DaSilva; and his beloved grandchildren,Francesca DaSilva, Christian DaSilva, and Claudia DaSilva. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Alice Marques; brother-in-law, Dennis Marques; and niece, Marlene Marques.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on May 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. ET at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, 420 Inman Avenue, Colonia, New Jersey.
Antonio will be remembered as a loving patriarch, a man of unwavering faith, and a gentle presence who enriched the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
