AnnaMarie Maliniak Obituary

AnnaMarie Maliniak, 58, of Iselin, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 1, 2021 at JFK Medical Center.  She was a lifelong resident of Iselin, and parishioner of St. Cecelia’s Church. After graduating from Colonia High School, AnnaMarie pursued a career in Accounting and Bookkeeping, working as an insurance underwriter for Continental / Unum Insurance Company for 19 years when the company relocated.  She continued her career with the Woodbridge Board of Education, as Assistant Supervisor for the Accounts Payable Department.

AnnaMarie served her community by volunteering at St. Cecelia’s for the Iselin Fair and Tricky Tray Auction, Cub Scouts Pack 49, and the Tim Gillis Band. She was an avid supporter of the St. Joseph High School Drama Club and her nephews’ numerous soccer clubs.

Anyone who knows AnnaMarie will tell you that she was the epitome of generosity, compassion, and kind-heartedness, and without a doubt was infinitely devoted to her family and friends. She treasured her role as “Aunt”; nothing gave her more joy or made her happier than to spend time with “our” children.   Frequent trips to Disney World and Cape Cod were her delight.  She was an avid bowler, enjoyed country music, and was always in search of a great shopping deal. She was there to help anyone, anywhere, anytime, no matter what, and would give you the world.  She was a selfless spirit with a heart of gold and will be missed by so many.

AnnaMarie was predeceased by her father, Michael Maliniak, in 2013.  She is survived by her mother Patricia Maliniak (Maricondo) of Iselin; brother CAPT Michael T. Maliniak, USN (RET) (Ann Sanders) of Virginia Beach, VA; sister Christine Thorsen (Louis/Butch) of Edison, NJ; nephews Philip Maliniak (Vanna Eggleston) of Virginia Beach, VA; LT Mark Maliniak, USN (Allison Kissell) of Mystic, CT; Michael Thorsen of Bethesda, MD; 2LT Christopher Thorsen, USA of El Paso, TX; Andrew Thorsen of Edison NJ; niece Elizabeth Thorsen of Edison, NJ; great niece Riva Maliniak and great nephew Donovan Maliniak of Virginia Beach, VA.

Visitation will take place on Sunday February 7, 2021 from 1:00-5:00PM at 660 New Dover Road Edison, NJ 08820. Funeral services will take place on Monday February 8, 2021 at 8:45AM at the Gosselin Funeral Home. Funeral mass will take place on Monday February 8 at St. Cecelia Church 51 Vernam Street Iselin, NJ at 10AM. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery.
