Anna Goldberg "Gaga" Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Anna M. Goldberg, lovingly known as “Gaga” by her family and friends. Anna passed peacefully at home on November 5, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and joy.

Anna was born on September 7, 1936, in Newark, NJ, to Teresa and John Placko. She was raised in a close-knit family that valued hard work, community, and love—qualities she carried into her life and career. Anna dedicated many years to the trucking and household goods freight forwarding industry, working first with Eastern Forwarding International and later at Greenbriar Forwarding Co., Inc., where she was known for her dedication, professionalism, and warm spirit.

Anna was married twice and was wholly devoted to her family. With her first husband, James Notte, she had two daughters, Deborah and Cheryl. Later, she married Jay Goldberg, who preceded her in death, and together they raised their son, Donald. As a mother, she offered her family endless support, guidance, and unconditional love.

Anna found her greatest joy in activities that brought her closer to family. She was her grandchildren’s biggest fan, often attending their sporting events and cheering them on wholeheartedly. She loved watching football and cheering alongside her family. Anna loved spending time playing her favorite game, Skip-Bo, where she was known to get her "butt kicked" by her children and grandchildren—an experience she embraced with humor and warmth.

Preceded in death by her parents, Teresa and John Placko, and her sisters, Deloris Schwarz, Julia McMullen, and Phyllis Brand, Anna leaves behind a large, loving family. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, John and Eileen Placko of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; her daughter Deborah Weeks and her husband Shawn of Little Egg Harbor, NJ; her daughter Cheryl Fuschetto and her husband Enzo of Springfield, NJ; and her son Donald Goldberg and his wife Christine of Cranbury, NJ. Anna’s cherished grandchildren include Shawn and Madison Weeks of Howell, NJ; Vinny Fuschetto of Springfield, NJ; Cory and Krystal Weeks of Monroe, NJ; Deena Fuschetto of Springfield, NJ; Keith Goldberg of Boca Raton, FL; and Tyler Goldberg of Cranbury, NJ. She also leaves behind her adored great-grandchildren, Ms. Marcy Weeks and a soon-to-be-born baby Weeks.

A memorial service celebrating Anna’s life will be held on Sunday, November 10, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Road, Edison, NJ 08820. The funeral service will commence on Monday, November 11, at 11:00 a.m. at Gosselin Funeral Home and proceed to Woodbridge Memorial Gardens.

Anna’s warmth, compassion, and strength of spirit will forever inspire her loved ones. May she rest in peace, with her legacy of love carried forward in the hearts of all who knew her.
