Albert J Principe

Albert Joseph Principe, 94, of Lewes, Delaware, and formerly a long-
time resident of Colonia, New Jersey, peacefully passed away on
July 30, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Albert grew up with a deep love for
sports and country. A remarkably talented athlete, he was drafted as
a pitcher to play professional baseball. However, his life’s true calling
began when he married the absolute love of his life, Carmela
“Cookie “Vietri of the Bronx. Albert also proudly served his country in
the United States Naval Reserves for eight years.

Albert and Carmela eventually settled in Colonia, New Jersey, where
they spent over 60 years building a beautiful life and raising their
family. He was known for his strong work ethic, dedicating over 35 years to
IBM before his well-deserved retirement.

Albert took immense pride in his Italian heritage. He was a passionate winemaker who
crafted his own wine, and nothing brought him more joy than the holiday season, where
he cherished and kept alive the traditional Italian Christmas Eve celebrations with his
family. As a lifelong baseball lover, he was an avid, dedicated fan of the New York
Yankees. He brought his competitive spirit to the bowling alley, where he achieved the
ultimate bowler's dream by scoring a perfect 300 game. At home, he found great peace
in the outdoors, spending countless hours tending to his beautiful garden.

Above all, Albert was a gentle soul. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved
nothing more than joking around, sharing laughs, and making memories with his
grandchildren. His warmth, determination, and profound love for his family leave an
enduring legacy.

Albert was the devoted husband of Carmela and the loving father of four daughters and
their husbands: Rosemarie and Gary Prignano, Teresa and Thomas McCammon, Diane
and Jay Frank, and Andrea and Daniel Tannenbaum. He is the adoring grandfather of
Andrea and Jason Frank, Samuel Tannenbaum and his wife Neha, and Benjamin
Tannenbaum.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Carmela, his parents, John and Maria
Principe; his sister Eleanor Marino and his brother Frank Bastone.
He is survived by his daughters, sons-in-laws, grandchildren, many nieces, nephews,
and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at
the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road, Edison, NJ. A blessing will be held at
the funeral home after visitation hours followed by Interment at St. Gertrudes Cemetery,
Colonia, NJ.
