Ada Martinez Obituary

Ada E. Martinez Santiago, 81, on March 16,2023. She was predeceased by her parents Domingo and Ada E.Santiago, and brother Domingo Santiago. She leaves behind her Husband of 62 years, Gabino J.Martinez, her oldest daughter Esther M. Langdon and son-in-law Scott, son Frank Martinez, three Grandchildren: Gabriela Martinez, Kayleigh Langdon, and Devin Martinez. Her great grandchildren Jaime and Sergio and Sisters Haydee Alvarez and Marisel Pendas as well as many nieces and nephews who loved her very much.

Ada was born in Placetas, Cuba, and named after her mother and called “Esthercita” as a term of endearment by her family. Her mother was a dress maker and her father was a truck driver. Growing up in Cuba she had fond memories walking to school, taking piano lessons, and learning how to type. She attended Santa Clara College and went on to become an elementary school teacher until her retirement. At 20 yrs old, she met her husband and was married 8 months later. As she would say: “When you know you know!”. Her family grew with the births of their children. From Cuba her family migrated to the United States and resided in New Jersey. Ada focused on raising her family while  supporting her husband who worked as a salesman and business owner.

Ada loved to vacation in Miami, Florida, where she would go to the pool and visit friends. She loved to cook and was known to make a mean “flan and arroz con pollo”. If that weren’t enough, she could dance salsa and rumba like you couldn’t believe! Ada credited her strength to endure what life threw her way to her strong faith in God and prayed daily. When asked if she had any words of wisdom Ada would reply: “Don’t do anything bad to others and live your life in peace”.

She will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew her.
