I was extremely saddened to hear of Yan’s passing. She worked with me as a graduate student intern for two summers at different companies and I was on her Purdue thesis committee. She was a diligent and keen scientist who was inquisitive and bright. Moreover, she was caring and humble and intelligent. These qualities were easily visible to those that knew her. She brought kindness, humility and grace to what she did and those that she touched along the way. Her spirit will remain with us. Please accept my sincere sympathy and condolences on the loss of such a wonderful person.
