Walter John Gurka

          Walter John Gurka, 87, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.  He was born in Elizabeth, NJ and resided in Colonia, NJ for 35 years before moving to Allentown, PA. Mr. Gurka proudly served our country in the Army serving during the Korean War. He worked for Phelps-Dodge in Elizabeth for 31 years, retiring in 1987.

          Mr. Gurka was predeceased by his wife Lucille (Soares) Gurka (1992), his parents Peter and Mary Gurka, and siblings Joseph Gurka, Ann Zajack, Frank Gurka, and Rose Nycz. Surviving are his daughters Cheryl Olsen, and Kimberly Taskalos and her husband David, also his 4 grandchildren Nicholas, Erica, Emily and Andrew.

           Visitation will be Monday August 14 from 4PM to 8PM at the Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Blessing 10AM Tuesday, August 15 at the funeral home followed by entombment at St Gertrude Cemetery Colonia.
